OUR SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS STORY
Green Clean’s mission includes a strong position on Social Justice. In fact, it is so strong that we consider it as important as our environmental mission. We are constantly looking for ways to offer more benefits, better futures, and higher incomes to our employees.
The reality of the cleaning industry ,and the current mindset of the American public is that people want it faster, cheaper, and better all the time, and all at the same time. We must be competitive in order to stay in business, even if we are offering a unique product, specialized services, and higher standards and policies than any other company.
The cost of doing business, especially in the cleaning industry, is very high. There are untold “hidden” expenses that the average consumer rarely knows about. Such as Workmans Comp, insurances, transportation, uniforms, product ingredients, tools, advertising, office space, office staff, taxes, and on and on. With all of this in mind, Green Clean maintains our commitment of caring for each person who works for us, and wanting the best and brightest future for them all.
What we do to promote Social Justice
- Fair pay policies which include an average per hour rate of pay that far exceeds the national average in the cleaning industry.
- We offer incredible benefits to promote health and wellbeing for all of our employees, such as massage appointments, nutritional information and supplements, and health education for all.
- Holistic health care as a preventative measure and when illnesses arise
- Natural remedies provided free of charge to our employees to promote health and well being.
- Time off given for family emergency issues, and sick children/parent leave options
- Holding positions for employees having to give long term care to an ill relative
- Paid bereavement days for our managers
- All uniforms are supplied by Green Clean, and loaned to all employees. There are no up-front costs to work for Green Clean, as is often customary in other cleaning companies.
- Company gatherings for employees and their families to promote healthy work environments, team spirit, and allows us to truly know our employees
- Cash advances for college books, and emergency expenditures
- Free safe cleaning products so that employees can clean their own homes and protect their families from toxins
- Free classes to educate our employees on health and environmental issues, guidance and detailed information is given to our employees to promote continued education to help them change their lives and the lives of their families
- College Bound Program for employee’s children which gives consulting on how to apply for college, financial aid information and guidance, and offers help and transportation to tour and select a college.
- Gas reimbursement for all employees who use their own vehicle for work
- Advancement opportunities for those who wish to move to management or work with our product line.
- An “off the floor” policy for those that wish to leave the service of cleaning to work in another position with our company.
- Full time managers receive paid vacation, and paid sick days.
- Owner & President Rebecca Reynolds often donates her time to educate and consult with worthy causes and non-profit organizations who share Green Clean’s mission.
- Rebecca Reynolds sits on the Cleveland Green Building Coalition Board, and is on committee to Entreprenuers For Sustainability
- Financial donations in the form of sponsorships, product donations, gift certificates for fund raisers for countless organizations and worthy causes.
- Speaker Series offering free classes on a variety of environmental and health issues.
- Reduced or complimentary services for those who are critically ill.
- Educational programs through Green Teach and Green Clean Out programs
What we do not do as of yet
- Although standard health care options are available through our company, we are unable financially at this time to offer pay in options.
- Managers of each Team are required to use their own vehicle due to the high cost of vehicle purchasing. Vehicle cost, maintenance, storage, and insurance make this extremely cost prohibitive.
- 401 K options are not yet in place
Plans for Increased Social Consciousness
- Higher paid positions within the company are in the works. As the company grows, finances improve and we are able to be more generous with wages, and offer advancement options
- Hybrid vehicle purchases will allow employees to drive Green Clean automobiles and not have to use their own vehicles
- We are working towards offering better insurance options to our employees, and hope to have this in place by 2008 end.
- Increased awareness of our College Bound options and encouraging the pursuit of higher education.
